Last Word

For some, communication is a ‘one-person discussion’. Obviously, the dutiful wife is armed with a sharp tongue that gets plenty of use. We’ve all experienced someone like this person who spouts run-on thoughts that lead nowhere in particular. Here we see that the long-suffering husband’s last word is ‘is’ and that he does not have the opportunity to complete his final sentence. The dying man’s wife, holding onto age-old shortcomings of her marriage, does not notice her husband’s passing despite her self-described mental status.
